A total of 1,112 entries were received for the 2026 Nigeria Media Merit Awards, with 972 qualifying for assessment, the Chairman of the Nigeria Media Merit Award Panel of Assessors, Dele Adetiba, disclosed on Thursday.

The disclosure was made at a press conference held at the NMMA Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos, where the processed entries were formally presented to the panel of assessors.

The presentation marked a major stage in preparations for the 34th edition of the Awards, which recognises excellence in journalism.

The PUNCH reports that the NMMA was established in 1990 to promote professionalism and ethical standards in journalism and encourage media practitioners to showcase their skills.

Adetiba explained that the qualified entries would undergo a structured assessment process by professionals drawn from the media and academia.
