The Ogun State Police Command said on Thursday that it had arrested four suspects in connection with the vandalism of solar-powered streetlights installed along the Longbridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
PUNCH Metro reported on Thursday that no fewer than 168 units of the streetlights had been stolen from the bridge.
The spokesperson for the command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, however, confirmed on Wednesday that suspected vandals operating along the axis had been arrested.
He said the suspects were subsequently charged to court to face the full weight of the law.
“We have arrested suspected vandals in the act within that axis and charged them to court to face the full weight of the law. The command remains resolute in protecting critical infrastructure and urges residents to promptly report suspicious activities. See something, say something. Stay safe,” he said.
