Madras, August 13: A science centre, similar to the one coming up at Bombay, will be set up soon at Delhi by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Mobile science museums, designed to move into the villages, will also be started in the districts.Disclosing this at a meeting of the Madras Press Club to-day, Dr. Y. Nayudamma, Director Genral of the CSIR, said that popularisation of science was imperative for developing the capabilities of individuals. The aim was to bring out creative and innovative talents.Dr. Nayudamma said that it was the duty of scientists not only to produce relevant technology but also see that it was assimilated by the people. Unless, there was the ability to absorb and use science and technology as an instrument for change, no matter how hoarse the cry was, it would only be a talk between intelligensia. If the technology was intended for the people then they should be made to know its value and use them.He said that, if there was a clear direction, a set goal, necessary inputs, including funds and leadership, the scientifc community which was highly talented would deliver the goods even ahead of time.
