Twenty-five years ago, when we founded the AK Party, we embarked together with our nation on a long journey that would reshape Türkiye’s future. At the time, our country was under immense strain from political crises, economic uncertainty, and a tutelary mindset. Our goal was to put politics back at the service of the nation, strengthen the bond of trust between the state and its citizens, and make Türkiye a strong country capable of making its own decisions.

When we declared on 14 August 2001 that “Nothing in Türkiye will ever be the same again,” our greatest strength was the will of our nation. The AK Party emerged as the shared hope of millions whose rights had been restricted, who had shouldered the burden of successive crises, and who aspired to a more prosperous future for their children.

Looking back today, we see that the AK Party’s quarter-century journey has marked a historic transformation for Türkiye. Democratic legitimacy has been strengthened, our state’s capacity to deliver public services has expanded, and participation in public life has broadened across different segments of society. Türkiye has evolved into a country that sets its own goals, believes in its capabilities, and shapes its future through its own will.
