As Canadian trade officials huddle with their American counterparts amid a looming tariff deadline, Premier Doug Ford insists Ontario’s U.S. booze ban is not a “bargaining chip” in negotiations.

Ford stressed Thursday that his prohibition of the sale of American booze — such as Kentucky bourbon and California wine — on LCBO shelves imposed in March 2025 would only be lifted if talks lead to “a fair deal” for Canada.
