Writing code is the easy part. Knowing whether that code is actually working in production, without setting something on fire, is where things get complicated. Cursor is betting that bringing the Firetiger team on board will help solve exactly that problem.
Cursor announced on August 13, 2026, that the Firetiger team is joining the company to help build agents capable of handling production tasks and resolving live issues autonomously. The Firetiger product itself will be sunset, with new signups closed and existing customers notified about data deletion as the technology gets folded into Cursor’s platform.
What Firetiger actually built
Firetiger, founded in 2024 by Rustam Lalkaka and Achille Roussel, built tooling around what they called Change Monitors: automated checks that assess code diffs from pull requests and verify whether a deployment had the intended effect.
The system integrated with GitHub, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Slack, and AWS and GCP, meaning it could sit inside workflows that engineering teams were already using.
