In a recently resurfaced clip from Janney’s 2025 “Reclaiming With Monica Lewinsky” podcast appearance, the “Mom” actor said she “always thought I would get married, just because at the time I was growing up, that’s what you did.” She was engaged once, to actor Richard Jenik, but the two broke things off in 2006. Janney said she was more sure that she “never wanted to have kids.” “That’s just something that I’ve always known,” Janney admitted. The Emmy winner said that despite being confident in her decision, she still visited a fertility doctor just to see what her chances of conceiving were. “The first I heard that I wouldn’t be able to have a kid at 40-something was in this fertility doctor’s office. She was like, ‘The odds are not in your favor,’” the actor said. “I was sort of under the impression that women could have kids till they were 50 or something,” Janney added. The 66-year-old said that her “true love” in this world ― besides her family and friends ― are her four-legged friends. “Animals and especially dogs are my heart,” she said. “I could not love dogs more.” Janney has previously opened up about not having children or tying the knot. “I think if I would have found the right guy at the right time who wanted to have kids, I probably would have with the right partner, ’cause I wasn’t ever really confident that I wanted to have kids,” the actor said during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2021. “I would rather regret not having kids than have kids and regret that,” the “Mom” actor explained. “You know, I’m OK with it.”
