Fantasy managers hoping the bullpen ecosystem would stabilize following the trade deadline will be disappointed. It’s the middle class being affected, with fewer relievers recording at least 15 or 20 saves this season compared to the previous two seasons at this point of the yearSince my last column, the Mets placed Devin Williams on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain. This opens the door for Kodai Senga. He received the team’s first and only save chance after Williams’ injury, and he converted it. In a very small sample, Senga hasn’t been scored upon through three relief appearances in August, allowing two walks and striking out four (18.2 K-BB%). A key will be the increased velocity as a reliever and generating whiffs with his forkball. He has produced five whiffs in his past two outings, resulting in a 15.6 percent swinging-strike rate.
