Four police personnel have been suspended for allegedly leaking highly confidential information related to the proposed creation of five new police commissionerates in Bengaluru. The confidential information, which had been shared between the Director-General of Police (DGP) office and the Commissioner of Police’s office, was allegedly forwarded by a department employee to his personal WhatsApp account. The information was subsequently shared with several other mobile numbers, in violation of the Police Department rules governing the handling of confidential information. Those suspended are Suhas, Second Division Assistant (SDA); Bhavya, First Division Assistant (FDA); Shankar, Section Superintendent; and Vanitha Kumari, Woman Head Constable (WHC).The disciplinary action followed an inquiry conducted by Joint Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Kumar R. Jain, who issued the suspension order against the four personnel.According to police sources, the information was considered highly sensitive as it pertained to the proposed restructuring of Bengaluru’s police commissionerate system. The unauthorised circulation of the material raised concerns over the security and confidentiality of sensitive departmental communications. The suspension is being viewed as a significant disciplinary measure aimed at preventing unauthorised disclosure of confidential police information and safeguarding the internal security and privacy of the department.
