Queen’s Park is moving to regulate data centres amid concerns from municipalities about the energy-sapping facilities that are used to power artificial intelligence.
“Any data centre investment will need to invest significantly in local communities and pay more for electricity so no energy costs are passed on to hardworking families,” warned Premier Doug Ford on Thursday at a Guelph data centre.
