Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports have warned passengers of potential delays due to enhanced security measures ahead of India's Independence Day on August 15.

Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet have urged passengers travelling to and from India to plan ahead and allow extra time for check-in and security.

India will mark its 80th Independence Day on August 15, with the main ceremony held at the Red Fort in Delhi.

Heightened security is routinely implemented at Indian airports ahead of major national events, including Republic Day and the Durga Puja season.
