New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and three government offices received hoax bomb threat e-mails on Friday morning, triggering panic and prompting multiple security checks a day ahead of Independence Day.Police said they are investigating the source of the threat e-mails and a probe is underway. (Photo for representation)Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that the Delhi Cantonment Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office received a bomb threat e-mail at 11.18am, followed by IGI T-3 at 11.32am.Jamnagar House received a threat e-mail at 11.40am and the Saket SDM office at 11.42am. The DFS also received information regarding an e-mail bomb threat at a building in Jhandewalan at 11.57am, an official said.The official said following the alerts, bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog teams and DFS personnel rushed to the spots and carried out extensive searches. No suspicious object was found at any of the flagged locations. “All threats were declared hoaxes,” the DFS official said.Later in the day, the Delhi High Court received a threatening e-mail. The e-mail read, “the blast will occur at 2:11 PM”. Following the threat, teams from various agencies, including bomb disposal squads, were pressed into service and thoroughly checked the premises, but found nothing suspicious, the official said. Security was also enhanced at the court complex following the threat.Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) Joint Secretary Kunal Malhotra said the court is taking all precautions and security agencies conducted a thorough check.Police said they are investigating the source of the threat e-mails and a probe is underway.The threats came amid heightened security in Delhi ahead of Independence Day celebrations on Saturday. Multiple agencies have been carrying out searches and security checks at key installations and other sensitive locations across the Capital.On August 3, multiple schools in Delhi received hoax bomb threats via e-mails, prompting the Delhi Police, fire services and bomb disposal squads to launch extensive search operations.A few days ago, on July 31, the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner’s office, district courts and several schools received hoax bomb threat e-mails, prompting evacuation and extensive searches.
