Plans to remove cars and other vehicles from Oxford Street have been rumbling on for so long, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's some pie-in-the-sky pipe-dream. But yes, it's actually happening: a section of Oxford Street will soon be permanently closed to vehicles (with the exception of emergency access), leaving the world-famous shopping street part-pedestrianised.
