The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening counterterrorism efforts, protecting civilians, upholding human rights and ensuring adherence to the rule of law.
Disu made this known on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Washington, D.C., where he represented the Nigeria Police Force at the second United States-Nigeria Country of Particular Concern (CPC) Joint Working Group meeting.
The meeting reviewed progress made under the CPC Joint Working Group Roadmap during the April-June 2026 reporting period and examined opportunities for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in addressing security and law-enforcement challenges.
The IGP was part of a high-level Nigerian delegation led by the National Security Adviser and comprising the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Defence, Service Chiefs and heads of other security and law-enforcement agencies.
