Oracle and AWS are widening the scope of their cloud partnership, building on a collaboration that now has Oracle’s database infrastructure running natively inside Amazon’s data centers. The expansion centers on high-performance networking between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS, a move designed to reduce the friction enterprises face when running database and AI workloads across two of the world’s largest cloud platforms.
What the expanded partnership looks like
The core product at the center of all this is Oracle AI Database@AWS. It puts Oracle’s Exadata Database Service and Autonomous Database on dedicated Exadata hardware physically located within AWS data centers. That means enterprise customers can keep their existing Oracle database architecture intact while tapping directly into AWS’s analytics and AI/ML services.
The service first reached general availability in July 2025, launching in the US East-1 Virginia and US West-2 Oregon regions. By May 29, 2026, it had expanded to 20 regions globally.
On April 16, 2026, the companies announced the next phase: dedicated multicloud networking through Oracle Interconnect and AWS Interconnect. This private connectivity layer is designed to give enterprises low-latency, high-throughput links between OCI and AWS environments, starting with the US East (N. Virginia) region. AWS Interconnect with multicloud OCI support became generally available on July 29, 2026.
