American Airlines reorganized its senior leadership team on Wednesday, widening executive responsibilities and adding a former Spirit Airlines executive, amid mounting pressure on CEO Robert Isom to narrow the earnings gap separating the carrier from Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
Writing to officers, Isom said he sees "a meaningful gap between where we are today and where we know American can — and should — be," and framed the reorganization as the "first step in a series of actions" designed to sharpen the team and speed up execution, according to Forbes.
