Joey Roman was crowned Miss International SA on Women's Day
For six years, Joey Roman walked onto pageant stages with the hope that her name would eventually be called as the winner.
There were placements, disappointments, moments of self-doubt and even an international competition along the way, but the former Delft resident refused to give up.
Now, at 23, Roman has been crowned Miss International South Africa 2026 and will represent the country in Japan at the Miss International competition later this year.
While Roman spent most of her childhood, teenage years and much of her early adulthood in Delft, where her passion for uplifting young people on the Cape Flats was born, she later moved away from the community.
