A man from Durban succumbed to injuries after being shot during a hijacking in Reservoir Hills, on Wednesdat night, highlighting the ongoing issue of violent crime in the area.

According to a source, the man drove into his garage and was followed in by another vehicle.

The source said neighbours then heard a gunshot.

When they investigated, they found the man injured in the garage and his car had been taken. He was rushed to the hospital by his family.

The SAPS national crime statistics for the fourth quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year revealed that between January 2026 and March 2026, there were 3,609 carjacking incidents reported across South Africa. In KwaZulu-Natal, 446 incidents were reported in that period, while Gauteng recorded 2,062 incidents.
