East African music is increasingly crossing national borders, with collaborations between artists from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda dominating Spotify’s Global Impact List for the first half of 2026.
The list features five leading cross-border collaborations, highlighting the growing role of partnerships in helping East African artists reach audiences beyond their home markets.
“East African music has always travelled across borders,” Spotify said in the reveal, adding that the latest rankings show “those connections are stronger than ever.”
Topping the list is “Finale” by Tanzania’s Alikiba and Kenya’s Bien, bringing together two of East Africa’s prominent musical voices.
