Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is turning to its domestic natural gas resources to accelerate the transition to clean cooking, as the government seeks to reduce reliance on charcoal and firewood while strengthening energy security.
Minister for Energy Deogratius Ndejembi said Africa had an opportunity to use its natural gas resources to expand access to clean cooking, arguing that the continent should derive greater social and economic value from its energy resources.
“Natural gas is a matter of energy security, not just an energy issue,” Mr Ndejembi said in Dar es Salaam, recently, during the AFRICASO Annual General Meeting and Africa Infrastructure Forum.
