IPID deputy director in KZN, Len John, has cast doubt on the modus operandi of the KZN SAPS Task Team, saying they shoot suspects without proper investigation.
Despite his allegations that KZN SAPS Task Team targeted suspects for killing rather than thorough investigation, Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) deputy, Len John, admitted that not one police officer has been convicted in 77 cases involving 149 deaths during the team’s operations.
John admitted this during his testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday.
Asked by Co-Commissioner Sesi Baloyi, “Of the 77 cases that you referred to. How many of them have been finalised and the police found guilty?”
“Nothing as yet commissioner,” John responded.
