IPID deputy director Len John said bank records showed more than R2 million in cash deposits, property payments and a home-loan transfer around the period of a 2023 Durban police operation that killed five men, including Bevan Loftus (pictured).

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) deputy director in KwaZulu-Natal, Len John, has alleged that Hawks police officer Colonel Deena Govender was linked to a R2.7 million financial trail after Bevan Loftus was killed in a 2023 police operation in Durban.

John made the revelations during his testimony at the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday.

The shooting that occurred in April 2023 left five men dead, including Loftus, Ryan Santos, Chase Fynn, Michigan Hippolyte and Sihle Zondi.
