Three separate fire outbreaks in Awka and Onitsha, Anambra State, have destroyed property worth millions of naira, including parts of a commercial bank, a bookshop and two shops in a 10-shop building.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the incidents, which occurred between Monday and Tuesday, affected Keystone Bank along Port Harcourt Road, Fegge, Onitsha; a bookshop at No. 3 Venin Ezeani Street, Awada, Onitsha; and a one-storey commercial building along Ifite Road, Amaenyi, Awka.
Our correspondent gathered that no lives were lost in the three incidents.
The bank fire was said to have been restricted to its network equipment room, while the Awada inferno destroyed part of the bookshop building and books.
At the Awka commercial building, the fire affected two shops, damaging roofing materials, portions of the walls and goods stored inside them.
