User-generated content platforms account for a substantially larger share of cited domains than publishers in ChatGPT responses to B2B SaaS prompts, according to an analysis of roughly 35,000 citation URLs. The finding matters because it shifts AI visibility beyond brand-owned sites and conventional media coverage toward the places where buyers encounter peer discussion, reviews, and practical product experience.
The analysis, published by Kevin Indig on G2, examined ChatGPT citations captured through Profound during December 2025. Its methodology and cited-domain breakdown cover US-only SaaS prompts and use a de-duplicated, domain-level classification. In the overall dataset, UGC platforms represented 17.1% of cited domains, compared with 4.0% for publishers. Vendor and other sources accounted for 70.4%.
That does not mean publishers are irrelevant to AI answers, nor does it establish that any one community platform will appear for a particular query. It does show that, within this defined sample, UGC sources had more than four times the cited-domain share of publishers. For SaaS companies measuring visibility in generative AI results, community and review ecosystems are therefore part of the core information environment, not simply distribution channels.
