The first season of The Paper ended with the Toledo Truth Teller winning a host of Ohio journalism awards after gung-ho editor Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) took over — and also the first kiss between Ned and reporter Mare Pritti (Chelsea Frei).

The trailer for season two of the Peacock comedy suggests the show will pick up shortly after that, with Ned trying to keep the Truth Teller’s momentum going and he and Mare trying to hide their budding relationship from the rest of the staff — whose noses for a story might still need some honing. “I think it’s pretty obvious what’s happening,” Ramona Young’s Nicole says to the camera. “Mare has a new best friend.”

One possible big story for the crew: A possible tornado that sends staffers Adelola (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Travis (Eric Rahill) on an ill-advised storm chase. The show’s logline reads, “Ned searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardizing the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda (Sabrina Impacciatore) struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters.”
