‘Our Enemies Are Happy We Are Divided’: Pan-Yoruba Groups Warn Division Threatens Regional Security, Self-Determination

The call was made at a Pan-Yoruba Self-Determination meeting held in Lagos on Tuesday.

Pan-Yoruba and self-determination groups have called for greater unity among Yoruba organisations, urging an end to internal attacks and religious divisions as they confront insecurity, poverty, poor leadership and other challenges across the region.

Present at the meeting were leaders and representatives of various Pan-Yoruba and self-determination groups, including the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams.

Presenting the position of the conveners, Adewale Adeoye said insecurity had become one of the major challenges facing Yorubaland, alleging that thousands of people had been killed while communities had been invaded and residents subjected to kidnapping and other forms of violence.
