Modern Treasury Adds Physical and Digital Check Payments to Its Unified Payments API
Developers can now originate physical and digital check payments through Modern Treasury's unified Payments API alongside ACH, wire, RTP, FedNow, push-to-card, and stablecoin payments.
Modern Treasury today announced that its Payment Service Provider (PSP) now supports payments via physical and digital checks. Rather than integrating a separate check printing vendor or maintaining distinct reconciliation workflows, developers can use a single API to route payments across ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, push-to-card, stablecoins, physical checks, and digital checks. The result is less operational complexity, faster implementation, and consistent payment tracking across every rail.
Payment Rails Don’t Die
Modern Treasury's PSP was built on the premise that no single rail can serve every use case. A vendor payment might move fastest over RTP, a payroll disbursement might run on ACH, and a cross-border settlement might move over stablecoins. Checks are no exception. According to the Federal Reserve’s latest data, 9.2 billion checks are used annually, representing $24.45 trillion in volume.
