Bew Zealander Ma'a Nonu has made a huge impression on the Sharks players halfway his short term spell in Durban. In this picture he is challenged by Ruben Love of the ALl Blacks during the 2026 Rugbys Greatest Rivalry Tour match at Kings Park.
Sharks captain Nick Hatton says his players will never forget the experience of playing the mighty All Blacks and could hold their heads high because of the effort they put in to contain arguably the most attacking team in world rugby.
“As a club, to play against the All Blacks is really special,” Hatton said. “I think it’s something that not many clubs get to do. So that was really cool.”
Hatton had a front seat for the haka and Ma’a Nonu’s retort to the famous battle challenge.
“It was pretty emotional, singing the anthem and seeing the haka and seeing Ma'a Nonu respond,” Hatton said.
