FSSAI said penalty has been imposed on Dharwad Mishra Pedha and Food Processing Industry, Karnataka for supplying substandard motichoor ladoos

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has prohibited Shree Shyam Foods, Bharat Food Products and KDP Food Industry from selling , distributing, manufacturing and storage of “unsafe food products” in Rajasthan for two months. It has has also imposed penalties on Dharwad Mishra Pedha and Food Processing Industry, Karnataka and Shree Chemfood Pvt. Ltd., Kutch, Gujarat, for violations involving substandard Motichoor Laddoo and substandard and misbranded Iodised Salt respectively.In a social media post, the food safety regulator noted that samples of green chilli sauce manufactured by Shree Shyam Foods were declared “unsafe” as per analysis by Public Health Lab, Jaipur. The lab also declared samples of ghee manufactured by Bharat Food Products under Delhi Dairy brand as “unsafe”. The Public Health Lab in Alwar tested samples of pure desi ghee manufactured by KDP Food Industry under brand Dairy Saras and declared it “unsafe”.Removal From Sale“The continued sale, distribution, manufacture, storage, display and offering for sale of these unsafe food products is likely to pose grave risk to public health. Accordingly, the sale, distribution, manufacture and storage of these products shall be prohibited with immediate effect throughout the state of Rajasthan for a period of two months, “ the FSSAI noted in its social media post.It said it has also directed retailers, distributors, wholesalers and warehouses to immediately remove it from sale and display. These companies have now been directed to produce a certificate of compliance regarding sufficient remedial measures failing which the prohibition period will be extended, it added.Meanwhile, the FSSAI said penalty has been imposed on Dharwad Mishra Pedha and Food Processing Industry, Karnataka for supplying substandard motichoor ladoos in violation of the regulations. “The sample of motichoor ladoo was declared substandard under FSS Act, 2006. The sample was found to contain tartrazine (food color) at 267.05 mg/kg , exceeding the permissible limit of 100 mg/kg,” the food safety regulator. In the case of Shree Chemfood Pvt Ltd, it was found that its iodised salt was “substandard” due to the inadequate iodine content, sodium chloride levels and insoluble matter and was also declared “misbranded” under the FSS Act, 2006.Published on August 12, 2026
