A 40-year-old man, who allegedly killed his wife following a dispute over her frequent mobile phone conversations, attempted to end his life and is undergoing treatment at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.The deceased, Sridevi, 36, was married to Manikandan, a construction worker of Chinna Tirupathi. The couple has a son and a daughter. According to the police, a quarrel broke out between the couple at their house on Tuesday night. Manikandan allegedly attacked Sridevi, causing severe head injuries and she died on the spot. On hearing the children’s cries, neighbours entered the house and alerted the Hasthampatti police. The police shifted Sridevi’s body to hospital for post-mortem.The police subsequently traced Manikandan and found that he had allegedly tried to end his life. He was admitted to hospital and is undergoing intensive treatment.
