B.Y. Raghavendra, Shivamogga MP, on Wednesday, urged the Ministry of Railways to provide a commercial halt for all trains operating through the Mookambika Road Byndoor Railway station in his constituency.Meeting Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna in New Delhi, Mr. Raghavendra said Byndoor railway station was the gateway to the famed pilgrimage centre of Kollur, also in his constituency. Providing a commercial halt for all trains passing through Byndoor would help thousands of devotees visit Kollur and other tourist attractions in the region. The move would also boost the local economy, the MP said.He also urged the Ministry to provide a commercial halt for the Mangaluru Central-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20646/20645) at Byndoor. The move would not only help pilgrims but also improve patronage to the service, he said.Besides these demands, the MP urged the Ministry to provide halts at Senapura, located between Kundapur and Byndoor, for the Mangaluru Central-Mumbai LTT Matsyagandha Express (Train No. 12620/12619) and the KSR Bengaluru-Karwar Panchaganga Express (Train No. 16595/16596), and for the Madgaon-Mangaluru Central MEMU (Train No. 10107/10108) at Bijoor.Mr. Raghavendra in a statement here said Mr. Somanna had assured him that the demands would be considered positively.
