Growing up in Bela-Bela, Limpopo, Olly Ngobeni was fascinated by cars long before she considered a career in engineering.
Conversations with friends about engines, exhaust systems and the distinctive sound of different vehicles sparked a curiosity that eventually led her to study mechanical engineering and pursue a career in South Africa's automotive manufacturing sector.
Ngobeni is now a PVT Body Interior Supervisor at Ford South Africa, where she leads a team supporting the company's production environment.
Her journey reflects a broader shift taking place across engineering and manufacturing, industries that have historically been dominated by men but are seeing a growing number of women entering technical and leadership roles.
