Spotify $SPOT announced Tuesday that it will begin labeling AI-generated artist profiles with "AI Persona" badges starting in mid-September, and will exclude those artists from editorial and algorithmic recommendations by default.
Across the platform, the badges will surface on artist profile pages — including banners and About sections — as well as in Search and alongside track rows within playlists. When listeners tap a badge, they will be able to see whether the artist voluntarily disclosed their AI Persona status or whether Spotify's review team made that determination independently, the company said.
