Russia launched another drone attack against Kyiv on Aug. 12, marking the second time Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian capital with drones in a single day. The military later reported that the drone was flying south over the capital and warned of a group of jet-powered drones approaching Kyiv from both the east and north. At around 1:06 p.m., the Air Force said: “Kyiv – a group of jet-powered UAVs from the east and north.” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air defense forces were operating against the Russian drones over the city and urged residents to remain in shelters. “Stay in shelters!” Klitschko said. Kyiv Post team members located across different districts of the capital, including villages on the city’s outskirts, reported hearing loud explosions as the attack unfolded. The renewed attack comes amid a period of near-round-the-clock Russian strikes on Ukraine, with Kyiv and other cities facing repeated waves of drones and missiles. The attack came hours after Russia launched an overnight strike against Ukraine early Wednesday, Aug. 12, striking warehouses in the Kyiv region.
