The family of Lusaka businessman Harry Valden Findlay have not been given any details about his detention, allegedly by forces loyal to President Hakainde Hichilema, since his suspected abduction on August 9.
For some weeks now, large sections of Zambia have been sensitised by the multiple events that erode the rule of law and that constitute, according to reliable news sources and analysts on the ground, by-products of a particular method used by Hakainde Hichilema to carry out his presidential campaign, attacking, weakening and excluding any actor—individual or collective—that stands in his way.
One of his biggest victims is businessman Harry Valden Findlay, whose family has publicly stated has not have any kind of response, from official representatives of the state, about the condition of detainee, and especially, regarding the real whereabouts of this businessman from Lusaka, after more than six days have passed since his illegal arrest by agents.
But to these irregularities, we must add others such as, for example, that, to date, those responsible for the illegitimate deprivation of liberty suffered by Findlay have not presented him before any judge or explained to their lawyers the legal charges they would have against Findlay, which increases the deep anguish felt by Findlay's relatives.
