Hundreds converged on the Aluva manappuram in Ernakulam, Kerala, to offer ‘bali tharpanam’ (paying obeisance to their ancestors) on the occasion of ‘Karkidaka Vavu’ on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).Many, including women and elderly, from various places turned up at the Siva temple premises on the banks of the Periyar River from the morning to perform the ritual. Over 40 balitharas (booths) were set up for the ceremonies.
