The Embassy of Thailand in Athens organized a ceremony to celebrate the 59th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Thai residence.
ASEAN is an intergovernmental organization of eleven Southeast Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, which aims to promote economic and security cooperation among its members.
The event was attended by several ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Athens. Dimitris Skalkos the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ secretary general for International Economic Affairs and chairman of Enterprise Greece was this year’s guest of honor.
“The celebration of ASEAN Day highlights the organization’s achievements and ongoing efforts to promote unity, and collaboration, among its member countries, and with external parties around the world,” the ambassador of Thailand in Athens, Sathana Kashemsanta Na Ayudhya, said.
