A new true crime documentary takes viewers inside a courtroom and a real life murder trial21:18, 11 Aug 2026BBC iPlayer has quietly added a harrowing new true crime documentary with a unique twist that everyone needs to watch.‌Offering never before seen access inside Scotland's High Courts, Murder Trial allows viewers to see inside a courtroom like never before, following the prosecution and defence teams during a real-life murder case.‌From the start of proceedings right through to final arguments, viewers see the evidence unfold and the tactics used within the court proceedings as someone stands trial accused of murder.‌Now, two new episodes have been released titled Murder Trial: The Death of a Dog Walker, which can now be streamed on BBC iPlayer.Episodes can also be watched weekly starting tonight (August 12) at 9pm on BBC Two as the new release takes viewers into the heart of David Campbell's murder trial after he was accused of killing Brian Low.‌An official synopsis reads: "Guilty or not guilty? Murder Trial, returns to the Scottish High Courts with the case of a man found dead in the middle of the countryside, with no witnesses, no forensics linking a suspect to the deceased and an accused man who the prosecution say has meticulously covered his tracks."It later adds: "With both sides also relying on vital witness testimony from fellow estate workers and neighbours, the trial will paint for the jury a picture of a small community ripped apart by old grudges and secrets surfacing in the wake of a killing."As the victim’s family await justice, the accused awaits his fate."‌Who is Brian Low and what happened to him?Brian Low was a former country estate groundsman having been employed at the Edradynate Estate in Perthshire.In February 2024, Brian was found dead by a fellow dog walker one winter morning in rural Perthshire, in an area known as 'Leafy Lane'. He was aged just 65 when he was found.‌Initially, police treated the death as non suspicious, with thoughts Brian had fallen or suffered a medical episode while on a dog walk. However, several days later it had been revealed he had shotgun injuries, with officers looking towards ex colleague David Campbell, aged 77, as a suspect.Ex-gamekeeper David Campbell denied all charges against him as viewers will witness the prosecution stating David had a long-standing grudge against Brian, connecting to their time they worked at the same estate, with defence team aiming to "tear apart the prosecution's timeline".The new true crime documentary hears from the prosecution team as they build a case around revenge as a motive. It hears from former colleagues as well as Brian's partner Pam who said she "got on with Brian from the word go".Article continues belowOn the programme, she added: "Everybody that met Brian liked him, I don't think he had a bad bone in his body."The show also hears from Brian's brother Douglas who said: "Who would want to harm Brian?
