Newly appointed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi met with regional youth leaders on Tuesday, Aug. 11, marking the launch of a new consultative body called the Chamber of Regional Youth Congresses.Representatives of local communities will now work alongside state bodies to strengthen youth representation and take part in high-level decisions, including how local self-government budgets are formed, Koretskyi said in a statement on Telegram.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.“Each cell will accumulate the problems of its community and raise them to the level of the Chamber, and from there they will go to the highest state level, “ Koretskyi said, adding that “we want young people to return to their communities with real tools for work.”Housing programs in focusA separate but central topic of the meeting was the state of youth housing programs nationwide.Koretskyi said participants agreed to examine the issue in detail going forward, though he did not specify a timeline for proposed reforms.In 2023, the State Fund for Youth Housing Construction concluded 415 housing agreements with Ukrainian citizens, with the most active local programmes being implemented in Kharkiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, and Mykolaiv regions.Over its 25 years of operation, the fund has signed 42,563 contracts and channeled HR. 13.3 billion (roughly $296.8 million) into the national economy.Ukraine completes formation of the Congresses in JulyThe Chamber of Regional Youth Congresses was formally completed in all regions on July 21, electing leaders and delegates under a structure created by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
