Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has approved President Volodymyr Zelensky's nomination of Sergii Koretskyi as the country's new Prime Minister.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 289 lawmakers voted in favor of his appointment.
Koretskyi becomes the fourth head of government during President Zelensky's presidency, replacing Yulia Svyrydenko, who served as Prime Minister for just under one year.
Sergii Koretskyi, 48, was born in Lutsk and is an entrepreneur and executive with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Before his appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Naftogaz Group.
In 2006, he ran for seats in both the Verkhovna Rada and the Volyn Regional Council on the ticket of the Lytvyn People's Bloc.
