Following the drinking water supply crisis in several areas, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has continued to take up works on a war-footing, as part of the special action plan.On Tuesday, Chief Engineer P.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju, Superintending Engineer (Water Supply) Pallamraju, and officials concerned inspected several areas to monitor water distribution, supply pressure, water quality, tanker filling points and major pipeline works.The team inspected the drinking water supply at Pedajalaripeta and found that no low-pressure issues, and water distribution to be satisfactory.Later, the officials also inspected water distribution at SKML Nagar in Ward No. 13., where they reviewed the re-routing works of the 1000-mm PSC Raiwada Gravity Main at Railway Crossing Bridge No. 1647.The team also checked the chlorine level in the water supplied at Angatidibba, which was recorded at 1.50 ppm. They also inspected the TSR tanker filling point and monitored the supply of drinking water through tankers.GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has directed the Water Supply Wing to remain continuously active in the field level, identify and rectify any water supply issue immediately, and make alternative arrangements wherever necessary to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience in accessing drinking water.
