The future service centre could also support helicopters purchased by other European countries
Two Polish defence companies on Tuesday signed offset agreements with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing that will pave the way for the establishment of Europe’s largest Apache helicopter centre in Poland.
The deal with Military Aviation Works No. 1 (WZL-1) and Military Central Bureau of Design and Technology (WCBKT) will allow Boeing to train Polish arms makers to operate, repair, and maintain the aircraft, and enable the creation of Europe’s largest AH-64E Apache Service Centre.
“Modern weaponry, Polish technologies. This is how security is built!” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who attended the signing ceremony with members of his government, said on social media.
The future service centre, to be located in Łódź in central Poland, could also support helicopters purchased by other countries.
