The latest iteration in Colnago’s storied C Series – whose lineage stretches back to the C35 in 1989 – the C72 is a lesson in Italian craft. Eschewing the mass-produced monocoque frames that dominate today’s market, it employs a modular, lugged carbon construction, still handmade in Cambiago. Built from seven bonded carbon sections, it allows stiffness and compliance to be tuned with a level of precision that assembly-line methods can’t match. Modern trends are elegantly integrated: clearance for 35mm tyres, downtube storage, a new cockpit and a broader all-road remit. Production is limited to 3,000 bikes per year.
