Greek police are searching for a Bulgarian citizen who allegedly drove against traffic and attempted to ram a police vehicle while officers were trying to stop him.

The incident took place in Greece, where authorities have already established the suspect’s identity and circulated his personal details among police patrols across the country and at border checkpoints.

According to the information available, officers attempted to stop the Bulgarian driver after he was seen traveling in the wrong direction. Instead of complying, he maneuvered toward the police vehicle and tried to push it out of the way.

The attempt to hit the police car was unsuccessful, after which officers fired several shots at the tires in an effort to force the vehicle to stop. The driver nevertheless managed to escape and remains wanted.

The case comes as Greek authorities are stepping up road traffic enforcement across the country. Police traffic teams are being reinforced, while traditional roadside inspections are increasingly being combined with electronic systems designed to identify violations.
