Snow, rain and icy roads are creating tricky driving conditions across South Africa. MasterDrive shares essential safety tips for motorists.
With snow forecast across parts of South Africa on Tuesday, motorists are being urged to exercise caution as some areas experience significant snowfall while others face rain.
Uncertainty remains over whether conditions will develop into snow, sleet or freezing rain, but wet and icy roads can all pose serious risks to drivers.
Eugene Herbert, CEO of MasterDrive, said snow and ice were rare enough in South Africa that many motorists had little experience driving in such conditions.
“Heavy rain catches just as many drivers off guard, especially in the highveld which does not often experience winter rainfall,” Herbert said.
