The eThekwini Municipality faces parliamentary scrutiny over irregular decisions, but it might have its appearance in Parliament to answer questions postponed due to some commitments.
The eThekwini Municipality’s senior officials, who were expected to face intense questioning last week when they appear before two parliamentary committees, might be temporarily off the hook.
This comes as a postponement of the appearance might be approved.
The city is to be reinterrogated on allegations of irregular decisions that might have cost the ratepayers billions of rands and affected service delivery.
Parliament had heard that since June last year, the city’s irregular expenditure had reached R3.2 billion, including R1.9 bn on water tankers and plumbing contracts.
