The Nasarawa State Government is investing between N43 billion and N44 billion in the ongoing Mararaba flyover and elevated road project, with the infrastructure expected to reduce travel time between Abuja and Keffi from more than two hours to less than 40 minutes.
The project, which comprises a 2.6-kilometre continuous elevated road, two pedestrian flyover bridges and five pedestrian bridges, is designed to address persistent traffic congestion and safety challenges along the busy Abuja-Keffi corridor.
Mohammed Wada, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency, disclosed this during an inspection of the project by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors media team as part of a tour of federal and state government projects in Nasarawa and Benue states.
Wada said the permanent works alone were costing the state government almost N40 billion, while compensation for affected properties would cost more than N1.5 billion and road furniture, including markings, signage and streetlights, would add more than N1 billion to the project cost.
