Alex Pantling/Getty ImagesAug. 10, 2026 Updated 4:28 pm EDTTottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has signed a new contract with the club.The Athletic reported on Thursday that the centre-back was close to agreeing a new long-term deal, with his previous terms set to expire in 2029.Van de Ven is the third Tottenham player this summer to sign a new contract after right-back Pedro Porro and goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky both renewed with the club.The 25-year-old made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals, as Spurs narrowly avoided relegation and finished 17th in the Premier League. He captained the side on 18 occasions last season in the absences of Cristian Romero and James Maddison in the starting lineup.

His decision to sign a new contract shows his belief in what we are creating together.”Van de Ven joined Tottenham in August 2023 from German side Wolfsburg in a deal worth £43million (€50m) including add-ons. He has featured 96 times for the north London club, helping the side win the Europa League in 2025 under Ange Postecoglou and ending a run of 17 years without a trophy.
