HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) said Monday it repurchased 340,000 ordinary shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from BNP Paribas Financial Markets SNC.
The purchase was part of its share buyback program announced Aug. 4.
HSBC will cancel the shares. $1 Billion Stock Buyback Program On Aug. 4, HSBC announced a share buyback program of up to $1 billion to reduce its outstanding share count.
The program began Aug. 6 and is expected to run through Oct. 23.
The banking giant paid between 161.60 Hong Kong dollars and 162.80 Hong Kong dollars per share.
