DNA traces found on an explosives-laden drone that attempted to attack a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig/Halle Airport had previously been recorded in Lithuania.
Ukrinform reports this, citing Die Zeit.
"DNA traces were found on the drone. According to Zeit, the same DNA had previously been recorded in Lithuania," the publication writes.
Die Zeit did not specify whom the DNA belongs to, under what circumstances it had previously been recorded in Lithuania, or whether investigators have managed to identify a specific individual. The report also does not claim that the DNA trace has already enabled investigators to identify those who carried out or commissioned the attack.
The publication separately notes that, according to its information, the Ukrainian aircraft at Leipzig Airport were empty at the time of the incident and were not carrying ammunition. This contradicts earlier reports by WDR, NDR, and Süddeutsche Zeitung, which, citing a confidential police document, reported that one of the Antonov aircraft was loaded with ammunition. According to Die Zeit, Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior privately refuted reports that the aircraft was carrying ammunition.
